Tegrity: Advanced Features

In this tutorial, we will go over some of the commonly used, advanced features in Tegrity. It should be noted the Safari and Internet Explorer browsers work best with Tegrity. Also, Tegrity uses the terms “session” and “video” in such a way that they should be understood as being synonymous.

Each of the following features reside within the Tegrity interface, which may be accessed once Tegrity has been enabled in your Bb course site.

How to rename a video:

  1. Select the box beside the video title.
  2. Go to Choose an Action.
  3. Select Properties (Rename).
  4. Select Ok.

How to copy a video to Bb course that has Tegrity enabled:

  1. Select the box beside the video title.
  2. Go to Choose an Action.
  3. Select Copy.
  4. Select the destination course from the list.
  5. After selecting Ok, a user will receive a message reading Session queued for copying.

Note: Copying Tegrity videos copies content and leave the original in place. This is the best practice when moving a video. The method of "moving" a video or session is not recommended because there may be a connection disruption or loss of data.

How to cut a video:

Cutting is a video-editing term. For this example, we will be replicating the steps to cut the first 5 seconds of a video.

  1. Select the box beside the video title.
  2. Go to Choose an Action.
  3. Select Edit.
    • This opens the video in edit mode.
  4. Go to Actions at the bottom left.
  5. Select Cut.
  6. Type in 0:00:00 and 0:00:05 (or the desired time-frame the editor wishes to remove)
  7. Select Allow.

How to publish a video:

  1. Select the box beside the video title.
  2. Go to Choose an Action.
  3. Select Publishing.
  4. Add the desired times and dates for publishing.
  5. Select Ok.

How to generate class links:

This procedure will generate a URL for the Tegrity video. The link can be easily embedded into a Blackboard course.

  1. Select the box beside the video title.
  2. Go to Choose an Action.
  3. Select Class Link. A window will open with the link
  4. Copy and paste the link to a desired area.
